Conception Date Estimator

Find out when conception likely occurred, when implantation happened, and your earliest positive test date — calculated from your LMP or due date.

🌿 Calculate Conception Date

Please select a valid LMP date.

Ovulation occurs about 14 days before your next period. We estimate conception from ovulation date.

Please select a valid due date.

We work backward from your due date to estimate conception and LMP dates.

    💡 Understanding Your Dates

Conception (fertilization) occurs within 12–24 hours of ovulation. The fertilized egg then travels to the uterus and implants about 8–10 days later. hCG becomes detectable in urine shortly after implantation — typically by 12–14 days after conception.

    How It Works

If you know the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), this calculator adds roughly 14 days, since ovulation (and therefore conception) typically happens around the midpoint of a 28-day cycle.

If you instead know your due date, the calculator works backward: subtracting 266 days (38 weeks) from your due date, since due dates are usually calculated as 280 days from LMP, and conception happens about two weeks into that window.

This is an estimate, not a precise measurement. Cycle length varies significantly between people and even cycle to cycle for the same person, so actual conception can fall several days outside this estimate, especially with irregular cycles. If you tracked ovulation directly (with a test or basal body temperature), that date will be more accurate than this calculation.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How is my due date calculated?

Conception typically occurs within 24 hours of ovulation. Ovulation happens about 14 days before your next period. From LMP: ovulation occurs on cycle day (cycle length minus 14), and conception is estimated on that date. From due date: subtract 266 days (38 weeks) to estimate conception date, which accounts for the 2 weeks before ovulation.

Ovulation is the release of an egg from the ovary. Conception (fertilization) occurs when sperm meet the egg, typically within 12–24 hours after ovulation. For practical purposes, the conception date is usually the same as the ovulation date since eggs are only viable for about a day.

The accuracy depends on your cycle regularity and how well you track ovulation. For women with regular 28-day cycles, the estimate is fairly reliable. If you track ovulation with OPKs, BBT charting, or cervical mucus, you can pinpoint your conception date within 1–2 days.

The earliest reliable positive result from a home pregnancy test is typically 12–14 days after conception, which corresponds to about 4–5 days before your missed period for a 28-day cycle. For the most accurate result, wait until the day of your missed period or later.

If your cycles vary by more than 7 days, the LMP-based estimate may be less accurate. In this case, using your due date (confirmed by ultrasound) to work backward gives a more reliable conception estimate, or tracking ovulation signs like BBT and OPKs in future cycles.
