    💡 About Your Due Date

Only about 5% of babies arrive on their exact due date

A normal pregnancy can last anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks. The due date is an estimate of when your baby might arrive, not a guarantee. The countdown is based on your estimated due date — if it changes after an ultrasound, simply update it.

Signs That Labour May Be Approaching

Lightening (baby dropping), loss of mucus plug, regular contractions, water breaking, and nesting instinct. Always contact your healthcare provider if you think you might be in labour.

    How It Works

This countdown is based on your estimated due date, calculated using Naegele’s Rule: 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of your last menstrual period, assuming a standard 28-day cycle. If your due date was set differently, such as by an early ultrasound, you can enter that date directly for a more personalized countdown.

The counter shows days remaining along with your current week and day of pregnancy, since pregnancy is measured in completed weeks from LMP by convention, not from conception.

Remember that due dates are estimates, not deadlines. Only about 5% of babies are born on their exact due date, and a full-term birth is considered normal anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks, so this countdown is best used as a general guide rather than a precise prediction.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I go past my due date?

If you reach 41 weeks without going into labour, your healthcare provider may recommend induction. Only about 60% of women go into labour spontaneously by 40 weeks, and about 90% by 41 weeks. Your provider will monitor you and your baby closely.

Yes. Early ultrasound measurements (especially crown-rump length between 11–13 weeks) can provide a more accurate due date. If the ultrasound date differs significantly from your LMP-based date, your provider may adjust the due date.

Full term is 39–40 weeks and 6 days. Early term is 37–38 weeks and 6 days. Late term is 41–41 weeks and 6 days. Postterm is 42 weeks and beyond. Babies born at full term have the best health outcomes.

True labour contractions come at regular intervals, get closer together over time, and increase in intensity. They often start in the lower back and radiate to the front. Walking typically does not stop true labour contractions, unlike Braxton Hicks contractions.
